Depression is a Mood Disorder

Mood disorders encompass major depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder and mania. These mood disorders affect a great many people, most of whom suffer from a major depression. Bipolar disorder is less commonly diagnosed because of the reluctance for people to report their manic behavior as an illness. Most times it is the depressive part of the illness that receives the most attention.
